Haven s.3:  Only got thru thing for last week, which is only the mid-point of the series but feels like it could be a final season.  Mostly because many of the major mysteries are basically resolved.  The barn, the Colorado Kid and Aubrey's reincarnations.  Plus the season's main villain the Bolt-Gun Killer aka the Skinwalker.  Also, Duke actually remembers he has a kid (even if he never brings up his recently deceased wife).  I do hope that in s.4 Vince & Dave get some consistent motivation though.

From Dusk 'Till Dawn s.1:  I only watched the first three episodes and then the series finale.  And it was very much not good.  Even on a specialty tier network like El Ray I can't believe it got three seasons.  Making Richie Gecko's psychotic delusions actual psychic visions was..almost clever though.  And his actor was a step up from Tarantino.

Chewing Gum s.2:  I liked and even empathized with most of the characters in the first season.  This time around, I mostly just found them selfish and irritating.  Until the end when again they become more sympathetic again.

Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King:  Comedy special for Minhaj, who is a writer for the Daily Show.  Funny and good, but not great.  I liked the stuff from his childhood with his immigrant little sister the best probably.

Girlboss s.1:  I went looking for reviews after I finished and maaaaaan did a lot of reviewers hate this.  I wouldn't call it A-level television, but the actors were good, the overall story arc was interesting and it was often amusing at least.  Plus it has Hutch from the Middle.

Haven s.2:  Several new long-term cast additions.  Notably Jason Priestly as Son of Mayor Charm and Adam "Edge" Copeland as Dwight the Cleaner.  Plus lots of Mythology mixed in with all the Monster-of-the-Week.  Especially for Duke's family history and the coy secret back-story of Dave & Vince.  Though going from the season finale to some kind of Christmas special is kind of weird.  They should probably have moved those around in the schedule.

Moana:  Rewatch, still gorgeous with great songs and perfect line-readings from Dwayne Johnson as Maui.

Haven s.1: Sort of based on one of King's novellas, though there are a couple call-outs that put the show somewhere in the King multiversal-canon.  Good but not great, with the X-Files-ish mix of "monster" of the week vs. over-reaching story arc episodes.  In this case the "monsters" are the "Troubled", or waves of pyschic power manifestations every generation.

GLOW s.1:  Dramedy based on the Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling show from the 80s.  Great work from the leads Allsion Brie, Betty Gilpin and Marc Maron; though all the supporting cast are terrific.

Fleabag s.1.  Phoebe Waller-Bridge's lead veers along from sympathetically tragic to frustratingly self-destructive.  And Waller-Bridge is charming enough to keep things just teetering on the more positive take.

F is For Family. s.2.  Opens with Frank still unemployed and the family dependent on wife Sue's not-Tupperware sales job.  Bill Burr and Laura Dern really sell the anger and love of the married couple and their hopes and crushing disappointments.  The characters and story arcs of the kids are good, but not as great.  As for the supporting cast stand-outs are Sam Rockwell as coked-up radio station manager Vic, T.J Miller's newspaper delivery middleman Randy and David Koechner adding more depth to the previous season's airline middle management Bob Pogo.

Dr. Strange: Rewatch
He Never Died: Sort-of vampire story with Henry Rollins.  Rollins does disconnected ancient immortal very well.

Wynonna Earp s.1: I'm all about the snarky lady demon-killers with sidekicks and bad boy love interests.

Jane the Virgin s.3
It always seems easier to binge from a device at work than my home tv.  Especially for those last 4 or 5 episodes of a season that sit on my dvr.  Love the way seasons for CW shows get uploaded so quickly to Netflix.

Mystery Science Theater 3000.  Caught up with the final two Netflix episodes, "the Christmas that Almost Wasn't" (so nauseously twee) and "At the Earth's Core" (more Doug McClure vs. ERB adaptation).  Between the latter and "the Land that Time Forgot" I kind of wish there had been a John Carter of Mars movie in the 60s with McClure.

Orphan Black s.4:  Krystal, Investigative Cosmetician, made for a surprisingly strong character addition to the Leda sisterhood.  Evie was sadly not the strongest antagonist for the season.  Which did serve to accentuate the return of Rachel, Queen of Evil at the end of the season.

Anne With An E s.1: This was a smidgen darker than I was expecting for an adaptation of Canada's most beloved YA book.  Good though.

Maria Bamford: Old Baby: Bamford's comedy special is as odd and funny as her sitcom.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt s.3  Kimmy goes to college!  Titus returns from his cruise!  Lillian runs for office!  Jacqueline (sigh) fights the Redskins ownership!

Tracy Morgan: Staying Alive:  Morgan's first show following his near fatal accident.

MST3K: Carnival Magic:  Oh man was this dull.  Its almost impressive how boring someone can make a movie featuring a talking chimp at a carnival be.

MST3K: Wizards of the Lost Kingdom
MST3K: Wizards of the Lost Kingdom II : So David Carradine, as the heroic the Dark One, and his exotic dancer wife and the comedic incompetance of the "heroic" wizard leads actually elevate this to Hawk the Slayer levels of terrible.

Master of None, s.2 : I know not everyone likes them, but some of my favorite bits involve show runners Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang's parents.  Sure they can't act and thus give very stiff line readings, but that adds to their charm for me.  And while I didn't hate Francesca, her latter story lines definitely felt the weakest.  Hopeful that Ansari and Yang do a 3rd season.

MST3K: the Loves of Hercules:  Just when you think the art of fx monstering couldn't get any lower we meet...the Hydra.
MST3K: Yongary: Well, this Korean kaiju is certainly no Hydra or Beast of Hollow Mountain.  But it sure ain't no the Host either.
Sens8. s.2:  I love this show and I love the cluster but I'm really starting to notice how movie magical hacking Nomi and her crew's haxxors are.
Dear White People, s.1: Oh this was good.  Even better than the movie its sort-of a sequel to.

Breaking Bad s.5:  There was a bit of a slog early on, basically when Walt's ego and pettiness get too irritating.  But man, those last four episodes.  Brutal.
Catastrophe s.3:  I'd planned on stretching this out for the whole weekend, but then I just couldn't wait to see where things were going to go.  Rob and Sharon are such broken, wonderful, vulgar, hilarious characters.  Plus Carrie Fisher returning as Rob's mom in the last episode.

Documentary Now: S2. I generally haven't seen the original docs they're parodying, but there send up of "The Kid Stays in the Picture" is just fucking perfect in every way.
Pacific Heat: This was a poor choice. Like Archer if it wasn't funny and was poorly drawn and was Australian and just suuuuuuuuucked.
Captain Fantastic: If I could be anyone as a quasi-cultish off-the-grid dad attempting to raise a little army of "ideal" people its Viggo Mortensen. Also that attempting to raise a family totally off-the-grid is just not the best idea.
MST3K: S11 - "Reptilicus" & "Cry Wilderness". Only two episodes in, but so far I think the jokes were a little bit better for the 2nd (though the fx in the first really is just laughably bad).

Dramaworld: Cute show about a fan of Korean romance dramas who is drawn into their world. Stars the daughter from Santa Clarita Diet. Short episodes as well.

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Netflix series. NPH makes for an absurd and buffonish villain with flashes of cruelty. Patrick Wharburton is excellent as Snicket and the older kids do well showing a combination of weary perseverance, hope, dashed hope and familial support.

Breaking Bad: Season 4: I'd watched the first third of this a few months back but needed a break from Walt's hubris and ego. Also Hank really grew on me as he investigated the hell out of Fring's organization.

Danny Rand is an idiot.  I mean, yeah Finn Jones is just not that good an actor and is more than a bit of a charisma suck.  But even allowing that, Danny Rand is a big dummy.  Not that the rest of the writing is all that clever.  I do still like the various ladies (plus Ward.  Ward is pretty good); Colleen, Joy, Claire (as always), Madame Gao.

ETA:  And the Hand's Drunken Boxer guard.  More of that guy.

Lot of A.I. related media in the last week.  Got around to watching the movie Ex Machina with its noir-ish femme fatale ending.  Also caught up with the final two episodes of Person of Interest.  And I'll admit to tearing up, especially with the twist at the heroic sacrifice.  And the love's lost reunion.  And someone picking up their dog.  Then I binged on all 8-episodes of Season 1 Humans, AMC's adapted series about a world filled with domestic use androids.  Which had some excellent acting and some good ideas, but never really pushed foward on some of its' bigger concepts.

The first half has a kaiju vs. jaeger battle complete with inspirational theme music.  Then victory thru family, friendship and forgiveness...

You know what was a great one-season show that deserved better?  The Good Guys.  Colin Hanks and Bradley Whitford as pair of rules-bending cops in Dallas.  I mean for the perfect music to action scene stuff alone.  At least in the first four episodes.  I mean I wouldn't have thought "Juke-Box Hero" perfectly meshed with a gun fight but there it is...

I can honestly say that was totally and completely unexpected.  Wow...
